Private mail
3rd party email with Outlook and webmail support.
Email accounts can be setup with the following:
1. SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
- A DNS record that tells other mail servers which sources are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain
- Helps prevent spoofing
- Example: authorizing services like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or your server
2. DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)
- Adds a cryptographic signature to outgoing emails
- Receiving servers verify it using your public key in DNS
- Confirms the email hasn’t been altered in transit
3. DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance)
- Builds on SPF and DKIM
- Lets you define what happens if authentication fails (none, quarantine, reject)
- Provides reports showing who’s sending email from your domain (useful for spotting abuse)
4. Custom MX Records
- Direct incoming email to the correct mail servers
- Needed for services like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoho, etc.
- Priority settings help with failover
5. Email Security & Filtering (Anti-spam / Anti-phishing)
- Set up inbound filtering to block spam, malware, and phishing
- Often configured via your provider (e.g. Microsoft Defender, Google Admin)
- Can include rules, quarantines, and user alerts
